20 DAY UGANDA CLASSIC BIRDING SAFARI

Day 01:

On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be warmly welcome to Uganda by our Tour Manager and Guide. Depending on the time of your arrival, birding experience at Entebbe botanical gardens and Uganda Wildlife education centre (UWEC). Return for dinner and overnight at Lake Victoria Hotel Entebbe/Entebbe Airport Guest House/Camping. Meal plan:Dinner.

Day 02:Drive to Mabamba wetland in Mpigi swamp for birding .Common birds to be seen in adjoining wetlands include: Rare Shoebill, Lesser Jacana, Blue Swallow, Black-Shouldered Nightjar, Afep Pigeon, Blue Breasted Bee-Eater, Papyrus Gonolek, White Winged Warbler, secretary bird etc.Drive to Kampala for lunch.You may encounter different birds as you drive to the city.Afternoon birding at Golf course and Mabira forest . Dinner and overnight at Mabira Forest Lodge/Jinja Nile Guest House/Camping.Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 03: Brief early morning bird watching around Mabira and source of river nile.Later embark of white water rafting with adrift outfitter for the whole day.Dinner and overnight at at Mabira Forest Lodge Jinja Nile Guest House/Camping.Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 04: After early breakfast and a briefing from the General Manager, you will set off to Eastern Uganda via Tiriny Road to Pallisa. Drive to Gogonyo near Lake Kyoga Wetland for birding. This is the nearest site for the Shoebill, African kingfisher, Pelicans, weaver bird, egrets, swifts, sunbird, falcons, etc Spend the whole day birding in this wetland and the surrounding areas have a picnic lunch. Drive to Mbale for evening excursion of Sippi Falls.Dinner and overnight at Sippi Resort Resort/Mbale Resort/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 05: After breakfast with packed lunch and snacks, this day is dedicated to one day hike combined with bird watching where the park guide(s)/Porter(s) are ready to take you up to the mountain using any of the selected three main trekking trails. Budadiri Forest exploration centre - Kapkwai and Kapwata are all places you start to choose to ascend the spectacular mountain. Dinner and overnight at Sippi Resort Resort/Mbale Resort/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.
Day 06: This morning after an early breakfast with parked lunch, you will depart to Kumi and a boat ride to  Lake Bisina and associated swamps for birding. This is the only place you may see birds endemic to Uganda . African hornbill, Fox weaver bird, shoebill, pelicans, egrets, eagles, secretary bird, owls etc. dinner and overnight at Soroti Hotel/Eneku Village/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 07:the day begins with greeting the early morning rising sun and breakfast. Drive to Lira-Kamudini road and to Murchison falls for lunch. Afternoon drive for birding around the associated swamps of Lake Albert and River Nile to look for Rare shoebill, heron, cormorants, ducks, bee eaters, kingfisher, fish eagle.Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge/Camping at Red Chilli. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 08: After breakfast, we take a special boat ride along river Nile and Lake Albert delta for birding for a half a day. Return for lunch. After lunch go for  boat cruise up to the top of the falls.Hike to the top of the falls where the car will wait for you and back to your accommodation. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge /Camping at Red Chilli. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 09: An early start by road for Kibale National Park via Albertine escarpment where you may have a chance to see the endemic Albertine rift birds. Enjoy the rift valley scenery and section of Lake Albert through out the journey. The drive takes you about 7-8 hrs! Overnight at Kibale Safari Lodge/Chimps Nest/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 10: An early morning entrance to Kibale forest for combined primate walk and birding. Here you will come across the following key species of birds: White Collard Olive back, Leaf Love, African Broadbill, Willcock's Honeyguide, Green Breasted Pitta, African Pitta, Grey Winged Robin, Red Winged Francolin, Joyful Greenbul, White Bellied Crested Flycatcher, Uganda Woodland Warbler, Abyssinian Ground Thrush, Red Chested Fluftail, Grey Winged Robin, White Napped Pigeon, and Chestnut- Winged Starling. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, visit Bigodi Sanctuary. Here, We will be able to see the fruiting trees, which attract Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-billed Barbets etc. Overnight at Kibale safari Lodge/Chimps Nest/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 11: Morning drive to Semliki NP. Have a nature walk in this incredible forest which borders Congo.If you stay at Semliki Safari Lodge,a night game drive in Semliki to view nocturnal is a must. Dinner and overnight at Semliki Safari lodge/Fort Portal/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 12 : Morning breakfast close to the pool and watch as the Hamerkop dips into the water and the Weaver birds flock nearby. A boat trip on Lake Albert to see the Shoebill and a picnic is amazing. The key species here include the African Pygmy Goose, Red-necked Falcon, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Blue-Breasted Bee-Eater, Black-billed Barbet, Piapiac, Leaflover and Black-chinned Quail-Finch.  Dinner and overnight at Semliki Safari lodge/Fort Portal/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 13: After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park . Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the foothills of the 'Mountains of the Moon and many birds as you enter the park. After lunch a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel to view and photograph hippos, buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks, warthogs and a variety of bird life such as Great White and Pink-backed Pelicans, Great and Long-tailed Cormorants, Open-billed Stork, African Jacana, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers. dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Mweya Hostel/Camping.Meal plan: Breakfast,lunch and Dinner.

Day 14: An early sunrise birding and game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile to view savannah birds. Expect to see the elephant, hyena, lion, buffalo, leopard, bushback, warthog, waterbuck and many antelops.You will view the Birds en route to Mweya Safari Lodge for lunch. After lunch, sight seeing around the crater region and baboon cliffs. Evening walk to the bird hide out is rewarding before retiring to your accommodation. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Mweya Hostel/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

Day 15: After breakfast,begin the day with excursion and chimp walk at Kyambura gorge.Later  drive to Bwindi via Ishaha sector an area famous for the rare tree climbing lions. Key birds which may be seen include :African Skimmer, Black Rumped Button Quail, Verreaux's Eagle Owl, Red Footed Falcon, Lesser Flamingos, Grey Capped Warbler, White's and Abdim's Storks (in season), Amur Falcon, Ovampo Sparrow hawk, Woolly-necked and Saddle-billed Storks, and numerous classes of Raptors, Vultures and Plovers. Today's drive is through what is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery, the highland rain forests which reach to the volcanoes in which live the mountain gorillas.Dinner and overnight will be had at Engagi Lodge/Bwindi community Bandas/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

Day 16: Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 8:00 a.m with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. There are now only 650 left in the world! The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours but its well worth the effort. Dinner and overnight will be had at Engagi Lodge/Bwindi community Bandas/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

Day 17:Morning birding at Mubwindi swamp near Ruhija. Common birds here include: African Green Broadbill, Grauer's Rush Warbler, Short Tailed Warbler, Rwenzori Turaco, Purple Breasted Sunbird, Regal Sunbird, Kivu Ground Thrush, Montane Masked Apalis, Red Faced Woodland Warbler, Olive Green Camaroptera, Handsome Francolin, Blue Headed Sunbird, Rwenzori Nightjar, Lagden's Bush Shrike, Waller's Starling, Oriole Finch, Streaky Seed Eater, Chubb's Cisticola, Barred Long Tailed Cuckoo and the Brown Capped Weaver. Later drive to Lake Bunyonyi via Kabale a region popularly known by many tourists as the 'Switzerland of Africa'. You will be taken by the scenery of winding road, hills and valleys, terraced landscape and friendly people. Dinner and overnight at Heritage Lodge/Arcardi cottages/Camping. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

Day 18: The day begins with a boat trip for sight seeing and birding along Lake Bunyonyi . Feel the wonders of nature as you will see big terraced hills, big valleys and birds. Return to the camp for lunch. After lunch, drive to Mburo park where you will view the game on your way to your accommodation at Mantana Tented Camp/Arcadia cottages/camping. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

Day 19: After breakfast,go for a game drive. The park is renowned for zebras, impalas, buffaloes, hippos, topi and elands including the rare shoebill, crested crane, pelicans, fish eagle, heron, Brown Chested Plover, Red Faced Barbet, Southern Ground Hornbill, Papyrus Yellow Warbler, Yellow Billed Oxpecker, African Finfoot and Black Collard Barbet etc. After lunch evening boat cruise amidst the hipos and aquatic birds is wothwhile. Dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented Camp/Arcadia cottages/camping. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

Day 20: After breakfast make an early morning game walk and expect to see Warthogs, Elands, Uganda Kob, Buffaloes and many birds. After luch,return to Entebbe where you will make a stop over at Equator crossing Uganda and drum makers before for your evening flight back home.End of services.
